A Few Words About the Revolution Series

My latest series is called the Revolution series, and it is my first venture into the Dystopian or Post-Apocalyptic genre. As far as I know today, there will be four books, two of which have been published, one is ready for publication, and the final book is still undergoing a final reread before editing, and cover design.  The original concept came from the last book I wrote before starting this journey, The Old House: An Everlasting Love Story.

The Old House is an interesting tale of soulmates who meet again in one life after the next, and more crucially how they met in their current life-times. The house plays a critical role throughout. The house have followed them too, with quite dramatic changes over the millennia to be sure. As Simon Carter opens each door, he finds passages to different time. In one, he discovers the horribly messed-up world of 2121. It is that world I try to recreate in the new books. A future Simon Carter also plays a role, although he is not a central character.

These books tell the story of Jack Kennedy, a boy born in 2107. In his world, America is in shambles. Long before he was born, the national debt became unsustainable, causing the currency and economy to collapse. Since the USA is such a large part of the global economy, the world economy collapsed as well. Now, the political and economic elites live in luxury in their domed city-centers, while everyone else lives in squalor. The domes are surrounded by weathered tenements where the workers eek out an existence. Further out, the poor live in miserable slums. The cities are walled to offer some protection, while the countryside is overrun by gangs and terrorists.

To be honest, there is some of my political view embedded in the story, but not much. Like many of my tales, the story is about fighting against seemingly impossible odds to survive and save the once great nation. Unfortunately for everyone else, the future depends on what Jack and his friends do.

Please check them out. Reviews are highly prized by me and other Indie authors. If you do read one or more, please do let me know what you thought.

And be on the lookout soon for 2123: Dawn’s Early Light. A few months from now, the finale, 2125: Home of the Brave will close it out. Thanks for your interest.

The State of America in 2121

Okay, I admit it: I am a conservative. I am also extremely concerned about the rapid expansion of the Federal government. Under the guise of helping the folks, our representatives have created a political class that they view as above the normal folks like you and me. The Founders envisioned normal citizens taking time out of their lives to go to Washington and help set the course for the nation. After a term or two, they would return to their normal lives, grateful for the opportunity to serve. Let’s face it: that ended long ago.

Regardless of our political affiliations, I think we can all see that the train has come off the rails. We are at the point where the two sides do nothing, and cover their laziness with bickering and posturing about their superiority to their opponent and US!

In this book, I look one hundred years into the future, after too many failed administrations have drained all the money from our pockets to line theirs. They have imposed their made-up rules on us, denying the very benefits they had promised us. Ultimately, we are left to live lives of abject poverty and despair while they live in their domed city centers, keeping all the good things in life for themselves.

But while the situation is terrifying and bleak, that story is not about that. 2121: Twilight’s Last Gleaming (book 1 of the Revolution series) is about the innate goodness and strength of the American people. It is the story of Jack Kennedy, a fourteen-year-old boy living in a farming co-op in what used to be Iowa. He and his friends and family are about to discover how corrupt their government is and just how horrible life can be for regular people. But Jack will not give up, ever. With his girlfriend Alexis Johnson, and his best friends Tom Wainwright and Abe Gregory, they are going to take their country back.

It is an uplifting tale buried in the misery of the common citizens of that year. They will face terrorists, violent gangs, and ultimately the cannibals as they seek to escape the madness and find a safe place to begin anew. I am almost finished with book two, 2122: The Perilous Fight. That will be followed by book three, 2123: Dawn’s Early Light. Come along on the adventure with me. Crazy stuff is going to happen! #RRBC rules!

The Dark Side of my Mind

Demonic-teaserIt won’t be long now before the launch of Book 4 of the Modern Prophet series, also known as Demonic. Just today I had a e-mail conversation with a friend about graphic violence in novels. While I generally stay away from that, when I started this book, I decided that I wanted to scare the heck out of myself. Well, I think I succeeded. After one more review by my editor and one more read by me, you will be able to find out for yourself.

Demonic is the tale of a man named Bill Watson who finds his world spinning out of control, not that differently from our own. It starts with terrorist beheadings, followed by child enslavement and nuclear war. Then it gets violent. It is a story of the ultimate battle mankind must join between the forces of good and evil. Yet this battle is bigger than our meager planet. Supremely evil forces are at work, and Bill and his newfound sister are the only beings in the universe who can end the reign of terror and reestablish the equilibrium that maintains our existence. Bill and Mary discover their connection to something greater than themselves, and learn that our faith in the Divine is our only hope.

If you choose to join the Adventurers Club, which you can find here, you can get the e-book version of Demonic free! I hope you will enjoy it!

Hand of God Release

HAND-OF-GODHand of God, book three of the Modern Prophet series will be released for Kindle on March 17, 2015. Follow this link to take a look and preorder.

In this adventure, Josh Carpenter lives in the not too distant future in the megalopolis of San Diego. Josh is a NEM (Not Enhanced or Modified person) living in a region where DNA enhancement and replacing body parts with bionic versions is the norm. But there is something different about this NEM.

Josh begins to exhibit unique talents that quickly draw the attention of both those wishing to help him and those who would prefer him to be dead. As wars break out and terrorist attacks spread around the globe, Josh finds himself caught between the forces of good and evil, but which is which? The future of life on Earth and possibly the universe itself will rely on the choices this young man makes. Will humanity survive? I guess that is up to Josh.

The paperback version of Hand of God will release shortly after the e-book version. Also check out all my works on my Amazon author page. Join the Adventure!

Reluctant Prophet Goodreads Giveaway

TheReluctantProphet-coverI have just posted a giveaway on www.goodreads.com for ten copies of my latest novel, The Reluctant Prophet: A Love Story. While this is part of the new Modern Prophets series, the heroine first made her appearance in the Dave Brewster series of science fiction novels. Even Dave Brewster and Charlie Watson (the key protagonists from that series) have cameos.

This book is very different from book one (Two Doors) even though both deal with young men who can foresee future events. While that book dealt with demons and angels fighting for control of the world, this book is more personal: one man’s voyage through life, searching for his destiny and finding love. Zeke Thompson will have to face terrible danger as others try to gain control over his knowledge. The world will spin toward global nuclear war, and only Zeke and his new love from the future can stop it. I hope you check it out. Click here to go to the giveaway page. Good luck!

Get Your Copy of Two Doors Free

TwoDoors-ebookcoverThe e-book version of Two Doors, book one of the Modern Prophet series will be available FREE on Amazon.com beginning this Thursday, December 4, through Sunday, December 7.

I’m very proud of the new series, which follows men who find they have incredible talents within them, and are then forced to deal with many different life-and-death challenges. The stories revolve around the never-ending struggle between good and evil, and how our lives are determined by our choices. Our heroes are forced to deal with others who have chosen poorly, putting their lives and the fate of all life on Earth at risk. The question is how will they choose when faced with evil themselves? The stories in the series are all very fast-paced and the bulk of the plot occurs over a few days or weeks.

Check out the free copy, and tell your friends to get theirs. As an indie author, reviews are the most precious gift, and I appreciate each tremendously. You can post your review on Amazon.com or Goodreads.com. Feel free to connect with me on my site: www.karljmorgan.com or on other social media sites to continue the conversation. The Reluctant Prophet Cover Reveal

TheReluctantProphet-coverHere it is! Book two of the Modern Prophets series is about to be released and I am happy to share the new cover with you all. The Reluctant Prophet: A Love Story tells the story of Zeke Thompson and Bea Watson as they work to stay alive and stop an imminent global nuclear war.

Ezekiel Thompson is a young man with a problem. All of his life, he has had visions of things that sometimes do come to pass. Now, his accuracy rate is about to hit 100%.

For fans of my Dave Brewster sci-fi series, the name Bea Watson should ring a bell. She first appeared in Showdown Over Neptune and again in The Second Predaxian War where we learn she is Dave’s yet-unborn granddaughter who has come from the future to help him.

In this tale, she comes from the future again to make sure that Zeke and his family accomplish their intended destiny to help create the future that Bea and her family live in. Another traveler has come from the future to kill him and change the line of time in order to gain power, without regard for the consequences for Earth. Zeke will face constant danger and threats to his life in this very fast paced novel. He will be arrested and kidnapped again and again as fate works against the new lovers. Only time will tell if Zeke and Bea can stop the end of the world and find happiness in each other’s arms.

I hope you like the cover and please feel free to post any comments here. Also, look for the book, which should be coming out very soon in both paperback and e-book.  Join the Adventure!

Two Doors Cover Reveal

TwoDoors-ebookcoverHere it is! After months of work on my new novel, I am happy to share the cover with my friends. Two Doors is the first book in the Modern Prophet series. These books tell the story of young men who discover abilities far beyond those of normal people. They are then pounced upon by new foes who will do anything to control or kill them.

Two Doors tells the story of Peter Smith, a man who finds himself caught between two powerful families (but they are a lot more than that).

Now you’ve seen the cover, just wait for the book! Join the Adventure!

Get Ready for the Modern Prophet Series

I am thrilled to announce that the first book of the Modern Prophet series is about to be published. Two Doors will be available in paperback and e-book versions. First, a bit about the series:

These novels tell the tales of young men who discover they have very unique abilities. Their talents bring the unwanted attention of others wishing to control them, and failing that, kill them. The stories are very fast paced and the action builds as more and greater hazards befall our hero. They will encounter friends to help them as well as foes trying to stop them. The plots are generally set in our time with current events as a backdrop, although as things devolve, the actions begin to stray into fantasy.

Two Doors is the story of Peter Smith, a recent college graduate who moves from Iowa to New York to build a life and find his fortune. All his life, Peter has suffered with terrifyingly lucid dreams. Now, some of those dreams are starting to come true. As his talent grows, he gains the attention of two powerful families, each trying to control his gift. Emmanuel Prospect and William Satori each offer him incredible wealth and safety if Peter chooses them, but it is all too good to be true. Why are they so interested in him and his dreams? But all is not as it seems.

The struggle to control Peter leads him down a horrific path from terrorist attacks and murder to global war and anarchy. Events move from more mundane events like car accidents and muggings toward almost supernatural battles that could lead to the destruction of Earth. Peter must choose which door to open, all the while uncertain what will happen if he chooses poorly.

I have added some of my favorite things into the story, and many of the places I have lived and visited. I hope those add some depth and warmth to the tale. Keep an eye out for the cover reveal in the coming days, and please Join the Adventure!
